Why does this site exist?

Issues such as academics, socialization, regulations, religion, and media representation help shape the experiences of homeschooled children. When they grow up, having been homeschooled could impact them in positive or negative ways, but the one thing that they will all have in common is that they will be different. Homeschool alumni have different experiences than their traditionally schooled peers, the majority in society. They are even different than their homeschooling parents, because choosing a lifestyle as an adult is not the same as being raised in it. Despite this, the opinions of homeschool alumni can be hard to find on the internet amidst the plethora of homeschool mom blogs and curriculum ads. Homeschool Voices aims to change this. Hopefully, this site will be a space for people who grew up homeschooled to share their unique and valuable insights, and for anyone else who is curious to learn more about the world of homeschooling.
